Pit Lane founder Andrew Marriott commenced his motorsports career as a journalist and is still to be found pounding the word processor when he is not holding a microphone. He has also developed a skill in book rescues.

In 2011 Andrew edited and also provided additional material for Driven by Desire - Alan Wilson's book about his wife Desire Wilson, published by Veloce Press. He has also completed an autobiography “Hobbo” about the veteran US racer turned broadcaster David Hobbs, after another author left the project uncompleted. Published by Evro, it was launched at the Amelia Island Concours in the Spring of 2018. The book has sold exceptionally well and was nominated for the RAC's 2018 Motoring Book of the Year Award.

Andrew also contributes to the BRDC Bulletin and his articles written in a humorous vein about his experiences over the years have been appreciated by the members including the late Murray Walker. He has now re-written them, and together with some autobiographical chapters, they form a new book “Is There Much More of This?” published by Performance Publishing and is available from their website or Amazon.

These days he writes regularly for Motor Sport’s website contributing obituaries and race reports. He is now also working with the new motor sport publisher BHP.
